The AE86 was never the fastest car on the mountain. It did not need to be. A light body, a rev-happy 1.6-liter twin-cam and rear-wheel drive in a range that had just gone front-drive made it the perfect tool for learning car control, and a generation of Japanese drivers learned exactly that on empty roads at night.
This print shows the Sprinter Trueno in its famous two-tone panda paint, white over black, with the pop-up headlights folded flat and the Trueno lettering across the nose. The simple, upright lines of an early-eighties coupe are drawn crisply enough that the car reads from across a room.
Hang it in a garage and every visitor who grew up on mountain-pass racing will know the car before they read the plate.
